Northern Lancaster County regional police were called to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Doe Run and Cool Spring roads in Penn Township on Monday around 1:30 p.m., according to the release.
Upon arrival police found a tractor-trailer, owned by Kreider’s Farms and driven by employee James Weaver of Lancaster, had been traveling eastbound on Doe Run Road when the truck exited the south side of the roadway, and continued approximately 100 yards through a meadow before coming to an abrupt stop in several feet of mud, as stated in the release.
Other drivers assisted the fire company through the mud to get to the vehicle and safely remove the semiconscious driver, according to the release.
Weaver was transported by emergency medical services and transported to an area hospital, according to the release.
Doe Run Road was closed for several hours while Weaver’s Towing removed the tractor-trailer from the mud, according to police.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
